Learning Welsh the Easy Way
These course are available as download only from this website. There are no CDs available.The memoropedia language system has been developed by David Jones from 15 years of teaching language to adults. It is based on how we remember, that is the key factor in learning a language.
Some language courses will teach you as if you were a child because children learn language very quickly. However, at approximately 9 years of age we lose that ability to soak in language effortlessly, so any such system will be useless.
Memoropedia is designed to teach adults, so it will use logic, sense, understanding, explanation, repetition, associations, and connections to what you already know. You remember best if you can attach new information to something you already know. Think of throwing a stick into a river, it will wash down stream, but if it attaches to a rock it will stay there. The river is your mind, the rocks are the knowledge you already have and the stick is the new information you want to remember.
Comparing the structures to English is important because that is your starting point, it is the only thing you have to compare the new language with. Systems that want you to just speak the new language from the beginning do not appeal to the adult need for understanding, sense and logic. We are not parrots! Therefore Memoropedia will appeal to your sense, show you logically how the language works, and help you to remember the vocabulary as far as possible.
Some systems think it is important to put pressure on you to perform, by offering you targets that should be reached within some time limit, or worse still, an exam! For the majority of people that will not work, pressure destroys deep learning because it destroys pleasure. It is essential to enjoy learning otherwise you will remember anything.
